Oakland fans have become the old grumpy porch man. They talk about how good it was in the 1970s. They point at San Francisco’s “mockery” of a franchise and boo the unethical Barry Bonds. They pump their chest about 1989, when they had at least two steroid abusers (Oh, the irony!)
I’m not an A’s fan, but I do root for their success. I still believe they would have made it into the ALCS if Brett Anderson stayed healthy. Unfortunately, they will have to go 62-27 at least to make it into the playoffs, so it looks like another selling trade deadline. Brian Fuentes and Grant Balfour will bring in some more cheap talent.
The Oakland Athletics’ fans are a hurt bunch. They’re stuck. They wish they had a new stadium like AT&T park. If fair weather fans were coming to the park, they’d probably ignore them and scream about the genius of Moneyball. In the end, the Oakland A’s complain, complain, complain about the Giants fans and their fake fandom, but we’re not the ones showing up with 8,000 when the Yankees are in town. So yes, Oakland A’s. I don’t know if you’ve only just recently started going to games and think everything is rainbows and lolipops but us Giants fans can be pretty rowdy. Guess it depends on where you sit and how many games you’ve actually gone too through out life. Since being a fan my whole life in which I started going to games before AT&T Park, yenno our real home at Candlestick, things have always been this way. When it comes to rivalries and speaking up about some real shit may it be for or against our Giants we have ALWAYS done that.
